ORDER:
The following Notification will be published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette:-
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 99 of the Andhra Pradesh Education Act, 1982 Act.1 of 1982) the Governor of Andhra Pradesh hereby makes the following amendments to the Andhra Pradesh General Nurse Training Institutions (Admission into General Nursing Training and grant of permission to Private Schools of Nursing) Rules, 1997 issued in G.O.Ms.No.313, Health, Medical &Family Welfare (M2) Deptt., Dt. 16-8-1997
In the said rules:-
For Rule 3 (2) of the Rules, the following shall be substituted namely:
1. ?3 (2) The Selection Committee shall select the candidates for admission based purely on merit, on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the Group subjects, as physical sciences or Biological Sciences, excluding languages. In deciding merit, candidates who qualify under compartmental system will be placed after candidates who pass in a single attempt?.
2. For Rule 4, the following shall be substituted, namely:
? 4 Rule of reservation shall be strictly followed while making the selection for both free seats and management seats. If candidates are not available for the reserved communities, the selection Committee of the Private Institutions shall be permitted to admit students from the other communities to fill up the seats meant for reserved categories. However the selection committee shall ensure that no candidate of the reserved category has been overlooked in the free seats and management seats. The rules inforce regulating the reservation to the local candidates as prescribed by the Education Department shall be followed.
3. For Rule 6 (1) of the rules, the following shall be substituted, namely:
?6 (1) NATIONALITY AND DOMICILE: The candidates should be Indian Nationals and should satisfy local or as the case may be the non-local status requirements as laid down in Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) Order. 1974 as amended in G.O. (P) No: 646, Education (W) Department. Dated: 10-7-1979. If in any year of admission candidates from a particular local area are not available the school of nursing should admit only those locals from the remaining local areas in Andhra Pradesh State. Only if no candidates from Andhra Pradesh is available. The School of Nursing is permitted to admit Students from other States.

4. At the end of Rule 6 (2) of the Rules, the following shall be added. Namely:
?1st July be specified as the national date for counting the age in the relevant year of admission. The minimum age shall be 17 years completed as on 1st July of the year in which the admission is sought. The maximum age for admission shall be 35 years. For SC. St and BC students relaxation of age can be made for 3 years?.
5. For Rule 7 of the Rules the following shall be substituted. Namely:
?7. The Convenor of the Selection Committee shall publish an advertisement in the main edition only in the two popular daily news papers one of which be in Telugu inviting applications in the prescribed from, from the candidates satisfying the eligibility criteria laid down under rule-6. The advertisement, among others, should indicate the application fee payable, registration fee, the last date for submission of the filled-in applications, the seats available in each institution, the tution fee payable etc. An interval of one month shall be given between the date of publication and the last date fixed for issue of application forms. There shall be again an interval of one month between the last date fixed for issue of application forms and the last date fixed for the receipt of duly filled in application forms?.
6. For Note 1(a) under Rule 10 of the Rules, the following shall be substituted namely:
?Note (1) (a) The practice of considering different hospitals having lesser bed strength than 160 beds, leads to improper supervision and, thereby improper training. Hence the strength of beds of 160 should be arrived at in such a way that preferably the 160 beds are located in one single hospital and in any case definitely not more than three hospitals put together. The Hospital/Hospitals should be within a maximum distance of 25KMs. From the place where School of Nursing is located. In no Case shall one and the same Government or a private Hospital be permitted to accord affiliation for practical training to more than one private school of Nursing. The Director of Medical Education shall maintain a list of Private Schools of Nursing and the Private or the Government Hospitals to which they stand affiliated in order to ensure that this stipulation is strictly adhered to. Any deviation in this regard will render the officer (s) concerned liable for stringent departmental action. The Government shall have the powers to relax the rule in favour of the Institutions located in tribal or remote backward areas in appropriate cases either regarding the number of beds or the number of Hospitals or the distance to be maintained between the location of the School of Nursing and the Hospitals having clinical attachment?.
7. For Rule 19 of the Rules, the following shall be substituted, namely:
? 19. The Director of Medical Education, A.P., Hyderabad and any other officer deputed by him for the purpose shall be the competent authority under the rules to make inspection of the Schools of Nursing?.
